The Last Roar? by KanuTGL The Last Roar? by KanuTGL
More university-related stuff. For this one we had to pick some statistics of our choice and make an info graphic out of it. I chose some depressing lion population statistics xP It's not exactly an accurate diagram, but I was more aiming for feeling and to give an idea of just how quickly and how much the lion numbers are decreasing. If you are passionate about lions and their continued survival, as I am, do check out Born Free's recent lion appeal: [link]

This is all made in Illustrator (I think I am at last befriending it, haha).

Now I must get myself some sleep. Waugh, 2:15am :faint:

Yes. Poor lions. Dark future ahead of them... But as you probably know, Kanu, the problem does not limit itself just to lions, since tigers are a well-known old story, to which we can also add leopards, exterminated mostly, simply, abusively for their fur. As I heard in a National Geographic documentary, over the last 50 years or so, the population on leopards seems to have been massacred from 500,000 to 80,000, or something like that.

Really heart-breaking. And just to think that they kill them "for the sake of fashion"!!!!!????? For Christs sake!!!! I feel like peeling off alive all those ladies who enjoy wearing natural and authentic furs of tigers, leopards and such, and everybody else involved, and then ask them: "did you enjoy it?... No?... So did the tiger/leopard that owned this fur..." I know that this might sound too rude, but IŽd say that the world of fashion can be a really dangerous weapon, and something insensible (at least to an extent) on how cruel it is what they are doing. Thanks goodness that some models have refused to wear authentic animal furs, probably in respect.

I couldn't agree more. Killing for vanity is disgusting. It's appalling to see how many animals are poached to have parts used as "medicine" or trophies for the rich... I cannot find the words to describe how much I detest it.

I originally wanted to make an illustration on the Amur Leopard, of which they say less than 30 can still be found in the wild, but I couldn't find a source with any decent statistics... So I chose the lion instead because it is an animal I am truly passionate about and it would break my heart to see them vanish from their Africa... It's not a big cat normally seen in these campaigns, but I think it needs to be brought to people's attention that even the lion is under serious threat now and that something has to be done about it.

Looks quite informative on its own way. I say it's a job well done, Kanu. :3 Love the colours you picked for it too, as well as the over all look of the whole thing with the paw prints on ground and some tiny little plants and stones here and there.

Thank you very much, Kir! :) I'm glad that it gets the message across; then my teachers will hopefully get it too :XD:
